Sage X3

Verdict · Editorial assessment
An ERP option especially relevant when finance is tied to products, stock, manufacturing and distribution rather than only bookkeeping. The official UK overview distinguishes discrete, process and mixed-mode manufacturing, making operational traceability a useful shortlist question. Project-led services are also described on a separate page, but that should be scoped explicitly rather than assuming all sector workflows share one default package.
What the vendor describes
- Sage advertises combined finance, inventory, supply-chain and production processes, with lot/batch/recall controls, multi-entity consolidation and low-code/API extensibility. Source ↗
- Sage’s services page describes project costing, mobile time/expense capture and automation of customer invoices, revenue-recognition entries and budget adjustments. Source ↗
Pricing and commercial scope
The checked UK pages offer Request pricing without a numeric licence amount. Ask for deployment, users, operational/finance modules, localisations, implementation, partner extensions and AI entitlements as separate quote lines. An earlier saved /features/ path returned not-found content; it was not a pricing page and does not establish current fees or pricing availability elsewhere.
Pricing status: Quote required. Request implementation scope and delivery timing in a separate quote.
Limitations of this assessment
- Sage’s advertised 50-project-day implementation applies to standard operational requirements and a predefined setup/scope, not every migration.
- Cloud-first positioning includes other deployment options. Confirm which release, update responsibility, AI features and customisation support are actually proposed; sector pages are not a licence inclusion list.
European requirements to verify
- To verify: Sage advertises operation in over 80 countries and local tax/accounting support. That is not a checked localisation matrix for your European jurisdictions. Demonstrate required statutory outputs, VAT, mandatory e-invoices and multi-ledger policies on the selected deployment.Source ↗
- To verify: Contractual hosting locations, subprocessors, international transfers and retention need a DPA review; the checked product pages do not establish suitability for a particular European entity.
Integration boundaries
- To verify: Sage names APIs, integration services and a partner marketplace. Verify your banks, CRM, warehouses and project tools, with object mappings, posting controls and upgrade-safe customisation ownership. Marketplace examples and product screenshots do not prove your interfaces work end to end.Source ↗
